Stay Jolly All Year Round

As the weather keeps getting colder and the bustle of the holidays are over, winter blues are in full throttle. This can have an impact on your employee’s motivation and productivity. With that being said, it is essential to keep their morale up during this time. Try out some of the tips below to make your workers a little happier during this time of year. A few may even boost your mood too.

Brighten Up The Office Space

Studies show that there is a strong relationship between exposure to natural light in the workplace and employee’s quality of life, sleep, and other factors. So during the workday, try to keep a source of natural light present. However, since it does get darker earlier during these months, sunlight alone won’t quite cut it. Make sure to have other sources of light to keep the office well lit.

Give Encouragement and Recognize Achievements

Always be sure to praise your team members after doing something for you. This can be done with a simple “thank you” or even in the form of taking the whole group out to dinner. Gestures like this remind your employees that they are not only an important part to the team but also you are grateful to have them on board.

Get Everyone Moving

Office workers sometimes feel trapped this time of year. People may also be giving up on their exercise resolutions and not moving as much. Consider hiring a yoga instructor to come to the office and hold a class to get everyone active. If not, try a work outing at a bowling alley or even laser tag. It gives employees something to look forward to as well as some physical activity.

Give Flexible Scheduling a Shot

It can put anyone in a damper when they are leaving the office at 5:00 pm and it is dark outside. If possible, introduce flexible hours into your office’s schedule. Give them the option of leaving a little early or coming in an hour later on Fridays. They will be incredibly appreciative.
